There are a lot of things you can do with colored acorn caps. For example, take cups of different colors and sort a pile of acorn caps into cups of corresponding colors. You can put a few caps in a row and ask your child to memorize the order of colors. Turn them over and name a color. Ask your child to find acorn cap of the color you named. If this is too hard, you can put a row of caps of the same color but one and try to guess where that acorn cap is. This is a great memory exercise. You can also count acorn caps and learn addition, division and subtraction.
We put pom-poms into a few of the caps and fed our little squirrel with "acorn."
