Navy Beans Rainbow

I found a recipe for coloring beans here. You need to measure about a cup of beans and put them in a zip-lock bag. Add 15 drops of food coloring. Add some air in the bag before closing it and shake well for 20 seconds. Then spread the beans on a piece of paper towel and let them dry for a couple hours.

I spread all the beans in a form of a rainbow in a large container. My daughter loved this activity. Obviously, she mixed all colors together within seconds. This is a great sensory activity for your child and an awesome way to learn colors too. Give your kid a few small containers, a few plastic cups for example, and let him/her pour beans from one cup to another or sort them by color.
